“Get your stinking paws off me you damn dirty ape” now that’s not very nice Taylor (although, I suspect it is exactly how Charlton Heston talked to everyone he ever met). A groundbreaking sci-fi classic that developed Pierre Boulle’s source material with a great script, pioneering make up art and a real sense of peril that it’s sequels sadly lacked. Stands up today fantastically well, even if some of its themes are a little too close for comfort. As for the final pay off… there are still few moments that compare.
