Motorcycle Mama is hardly the most obvious of Neil Young songs to work with, but hey, since when did anything to do with Neil Young need to be obvious? Taken from his relatively unheralded 1978 album, Comes A Time. Originally meant to be a purely solo effort, the record company wanted to a bit more oomph to it and Young agreed to bring in Crazy Horse. However, where the album gains most of its notoriety is over the rumour that Young never liked the original mix and bought up 200,000 copies himself and that he singled his barn roof with them. He has since personally remixed it to the version we know today, which is a win:win as for all as Neil has a nice barn roof and we have a cracking album.
