When you watch HBO's sensational Vinyl TV series you realise that despite being as safe as juggling elecric toasters in the bath, early 70s New York was one hell of a place be if you were into music - and nowhere more so than with the uptown sounds of Harlem where hustler soul made turned "blaxploitation" soundtracks into sensational albums that would long outlive the appeal of the movies they came from.
