It is easy to forget that Britpop wasn't just about Oasis, Blur, Pulp and Loaded magazine. There were dozens of cracking bands that did so much more with the genre too. No more so than Cardiff's Super Furry Animals, who bypassed the Stones, Kinks and Beatles so beloved by their peers and were busy pulling in all manner of New Wave and Psychedelic references. When the trippy Ice Hockey Hair came out, the reviews had no idea how to describe it and were citing it as sounding like a soup of bands as broad and diverse as the Beach Boys, Queen, ELO, Talking Heads and the entire Techno scene. Whatever. It's a banging track and without a doubt one of Britpop's creative and artistic high points.
