THAT THING YOU DO inspired THE WONDERS T-Shirt

In itself, That Thing You Do was a nice little film. Thoroughly watchable, inoffensive (hey, it's a Tom Hanks movie) and enough nostalgia to set any self-respecting Baby Boomer off on a three-hour monologue about how great things were and how kids today blah blah blah. Certainly more charm than depth. But what set That Thing You Do apart was that the titular song was absolutely spot-on. As in it was perfect. A song that sounds that convincing as a 60s one-hit wonder that I can't have been alone in wondering (or is that Onedering?) if it was, in fact, a lost gem of the time. It didn't sound like a pastiche; it sounded exactly like it would have done in 1964 - so hats off to Adam Schlesinger of Fountains of Wayne.
