When I first read On The Road it’s brilliance didn't really hit me. Sure, it was a tale that should appeal to any teenager – music, freedom, drugs and adventure. Yet Jack Kerouac, through Sal Paradise and Dean Moriarty inhabited a world I dreamed of being a part of, it wasn't until I got to do my own coast-to-coast American road trip that it truly made sense.
